Listening to the soundtrack of Ecco the dolphin on the beach :)

theatlanteanavenger:

Of all the video games I’ve played in my life, never before have I heard a soundtrack that was so powerful. Ecco the Dolphin was one of best games in the 90’s mainly because of the mesmerizing music.

(I’m a bit of a huge tease with these oops)

So I’ve been busy today, at the very least my job has been self-employed sound testing. We just got a BOSE 135 system last night and I’m never one to leave a sound system untested. So I’ve been running arrangement work through it all day, such as testing all polished tracks along with most beta tracks for Song of the Ancient Singers.

You know.

The album I was meant to have out in June but health and travel got in the way.

Title: Shrine of Controversy 80 plays

spazztastic-muffin:

Okay, this game, about a dolphin saving the future of earth as we know it, has some of the most compelling and moving music I’ve ever heard. And I never get over that fact. If you truly immerse yourself in the music and the game, it sinks into you, and you can be taken on an emotional sensory ride. And I got all of this out of the game when I was just about twelve or thirteen. Though even without the context of the game its still powerful and calming.

This track in particular always had a strong and close place in my heart. It made me have a particular fondness for music like this. And any one who knows me would be able to see the resemblances instantly.

When I listen to this I’m taken back to fond and quiet simpler times, when I’d play this so many years back. It connects me back to a lot of things I love. Especially if I listen to it on rainy days, It feels like I’m dreaming in an ocean.

Ecco music is stunning, I listen to it very often when I work or when I want to relax.

Interesting story about this song. This is Roaring Forces [Eel Chase] by:Tim Folin, from the Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of the Future video game. I have the soundtrack, and this song somehow ended up onto my dad’s computer. He burned every song in the library to a disc for his long drives and business trips.

Earlier this week, while I was sleeping, my cell phone rang. It was my father. I could hear a familiar drum beat playing in the blaringly loud music. Before I could ponder it, my dad starts talking into the phone.

dad: “Ibeyla what the fuck is Roaring Forces”
me: “… what?”
dad: “WHAT IS THIS FUCKING SONG ITS ALL DRUMMY AND INTENSE AND SOUNDS LIKE FEAR”
me: “Dad what are you talk-“
dad: “IT SOUNDS LIKE FEAR, IBEYLA. FEAR. WHAT IS THIS.”

I had to stop the call because I started to die of laughter. I remembered the song and it just was too funny. When I first played the level at the age of ten that song was the song of fear. That level was terrifying. And my dad saying it sounded like fear made me laugh.

 Hahaha FEAR.
